7 Days Conquer Kilimanjaro of Majesty on the Rongai Route Trek
Embark on an extraordinary journey through the iconic Rongai Route, a less-traveled path to the majestic Kilimanjaro summit. Our 7-day trek promises an unforgettable experience, blending the thrill of adventure with the awe-inspiring beauty of the Tanzanian landscape. From the bustling Kilimanjaro Airport, we venture into the heart of nature, climbing steadily through diverse terrains, each day bringing us closer to the summit, Uhuru Peak.
Itinerary
Moshi Rongai Gate - Simba Camp
The expedition officially kicks off with a drive to the Rongai Gate. As we ascend, the landscape transitions from lush rainforests to heath and moorland. The Simba Camp, our first stop, offers panoramic views of Kilimanjaro's southern plains. The temperature drops, and at an altitude of approximately 2,600 meters, the air becomes crisper.
Simba Camp - Second Cave
Heading through the moorland, we reach the Second Cave. The vegetation thins, and the air becomes thinner as we gain altitude. At around 3,450 meters, the landscape opens up, revealing the stark beauty of the high-altitude terrain.
Second Cave– Kikelewa Cave
Continuing our ascent, we traverse the lunar-like landscape, arriving at Kikelewa Cave. The altitude now exceeds 3,600 meters, and the temperature drops further. Unique alpine flora adorns the rocky terrain, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.
Kikelewa Cave - Mawenzi Tarn
Ascending through the Alpine Desert, we reach Mawenzi Tarn. Nestled at an altitude of approximately 4,300 meters, the surrounding peaks and glaciers create a breathtaking backdrop. Temperatures plunge, and the landscape transforms into a rugged alpine paradise.
Mawenzi Tarn– Kibo Hut Uhuru Peak - Horombo Hut
The most challenging day awaits as we ascend to the summit via Kibo Hut. The culmination at Uhuru Peak, standing at an awe-inspiring 5,895 meters, offers unparalleled vistas. Descending to Horombo Hut, we witness the changing flora, descending through moorland and heath.
Kibo Hut Uhuru Peak - Back to Horombo Hut
The summit achievement is savored as we retrace our steps back to Horombo Hut. Descending through diverse landscapes, the temperature fluctuates, and the vegetation gradually shifts. The day culminates with a sense of accomplishment and panoramic views.
Horombo Hut - Mandara Hut - Marangu Gate - Back to Moshi/Arusha
Our descent continues, passing through Mandara Hut to the Marangu Gate. The descent provides unique perspectives, and at lower altitudes, the temperature rises. Returning to Moshi or Arusha, the journey concludes with a celebration of conquering Kilimanjaro.
