Itinerary
Moshi - Marangu Gate Mandara Hut
Temperature: Ranges from 20°C to 30°C Height: Marangu Gate is at 1,860 meters above sea level. Distance: Approximately 40 kilometers from Moshi to Marangu Gate. Nature of Area Distribution: Tropical rainforest, gradually transforming into heath and moorland.
Mandara Hut- Horombo Hut
Temperature: Varies from 10°C to 20°C Height: Horombo Hut is situated at 3,720 meters above sea level. Distance: Around 12 kilometers from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut. Nature of Area Distribution: Transition from moorland to alpine desert.
Horombo Hut Mawenzi - Back to Horombo Hut (full day Acclimatization Day)
Temperature: Ranges from 5°C to 15°C Height: Exploration of Mawenzi peaks, with a return to Horombo Hut at 3,720 meters. Distance: Flexible based on individual exploration around Mawenzi. Nature of Area Distribution: Alpine desert, with rocky landscapes and stunning panoramic views
Horombo Hut -Kibo Hut
Temperature: Varies from 0°C to 10°C Height: Kibo Hut is situated at 4,703 meters above sea level. Distance: Approximately 10 kilometers from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut. Nature of Area Distribution: Ascending through the barren lunar landscape towards the glacial zone.
Kibo Hut Uhuru Peak (summit point) - Back to Horombo Hut
Temperature: Ranges from -10°C to -5°C (Uhuru Peak) Height: Uhuru Peak, the summit, stands at 5,895 meters. Distance: About 21 kilometers round trip from Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and back to Horombo Hut. Nature of Area Distribution: Final ascent through the glacial zone to the breathtaking summit, then descending to lower altitudes.
Horombo Hut Mandara Hut - Marangu Gate - Back to Moshi/Arusha
Temperature: Gradually warming from 0°C to 20°C Height: Descending from 3,720 meters to 1,860 meters at Marangu Gate. Distance: Approximately 27 kilometers from Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate. Nature of Area Distribution: A descent through alpine desert, moorland, and tropical rainforest.
