Moshi - Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Embark on your trek from the Marangu Gate, the starting point of the Marangu Route. The day's hike takes you through lush rainforests, alive with the sounds of exotic birds and the rustling leaves of ancient trees. Arrive at the Mandara Hut, nestled in the verdant landscape, where you will rest and acclimate.
Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
The trail ascends through the heath and moorland zones, revealing panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscapes. As you reach Horombo Hut, situated at an elevation of approximately 12,205 feet (3,720 meters), the air thins, and the temperature drops, offering a taste of the challenges and rewards that lie ahead.
Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Your journey takes you through the alpine desert, where the landscape transforms into a stark and surreal beauty. Ascend to Kibo Hut, located at 15,430 feet (4,700 meters), as you prepare for the final push to the summit.
Kibo Hut Uhuru Peak (Summit Point) - Back to Horombo Hut
The day begins in the predawn darkness with a challenging ascent to Uhuru Peak, the summit of Kilimanjaro, standing at 19,341 feet (5,895 meters). Witness the sunrise over Africa from the Roof of Africa. Descend to Kibo Hut and further to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Horombo Hut Mandara Hut to Marangu Gate - Back to Moshi/Arusha
