Welcome to a transformative experience as we embark on the 8-day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Hiking Tour. This journey is not merely a trek; it's an intimate exploration of nature's grandeur, where each day unfolds a new chapter in the epic tale of Kilimanjaro. As you traverse from the vibrant Moshi/Arusha to the pinnacle of Uhuru Peak, you will witness the geographical diversity, experience changing temperatures, and be immersed in the unparalleled beauty of this iconic mountain.
Itinerary
Moshi/Arusha – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree)
Departing from Moshi/Arusha, our journey commences at Londorossi Gate. The day is filled with a trek through the dense rainforests, where temperatures are mild, and the landscape is lush with the sounds of nature.
Mti Mkubwa – Shira 1 Camp
Climbing higher, we transition to the moorlands and Shira Plateau. The temperature drops, and the landscape transforms into an expansive and breathtaking scene. Shira 1 Camp, surrounded by the colossal Shira Cathedral, becomes our haven for the night.
Shira 1 Camp – Moir Hut
Heading towards Moir Hut, we navigate through the Shira Ridge, entering the high desert zone. The temperature further decreases, and the vegetation becomes sparse, offering a unique sense of isolation and tranquility.
Moir Hut – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Today, we ascend to the Lava Tower, a significant altitude gain. The temperature drops noticeably as we enter the alpine desert. Descending to Barranco Camp, surrounded by towering cliffs, provides a dramatic change in scenery.
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Scaling the Barranco Wall, we proceed to Karanga Camp. The air becomes thinner, and temperatures continue to drop. The panoramic views of southern glaciers and the looming Kibo summit offer a surreal experience.
Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp
Approaching the summit, we reach Barafu Camp, the last stop before the ascent. Here, the landscape is barren, and temperatures can be harsh. The air is thin, adding a challenging but exhilarating element to the journey.
Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Back to Barafu Camp - Mweka Camp
Summit day! The air becomes crisp as we ascend to Uhuru Peak, standing at an impressive height. After conquering the summit, we descend to Barafu Camp and further to Mweka Camp, surrounded by the whispers of silence.
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate Moshi
Descending through the lush rainforests, the temperatures rise again, and the landscape transforms. The journey concludes at Mweka Gate, a celebration of conquering Kilimanjaro and the serene beauty experienced along the Lemosho Route.
