Itinerary
Moshi Rongai Gate -Simba Camp
Geographical Details: Begin the trek from Rongai Gate, situated at an elevation of about 1,950 meters. The route unfolds through dense rainforest areas with diverse vegetation, experiencing temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F - 86°F). The distance covered on this day is around 8 kilometers.
Simba Camp- Second Cave
Geographical Details: Ascend further, passing through moorland areas. The altitude increases to around 2,870 meters, offering cooler temperatures between 15°C to 25°C (59°F - 77°F). The trek covers approximately 6 kilometers, showcasing unique flora and volcanic formations.
Second Cave– Third Cave
Geographical Details: Traverse through stunning landscapes characterized by volcanic terrain. You will reach an altitude of approximately 3,750 meters, encountering cooler temperatures ranging from 5°C to 15°C (41°F - 59°F). The distance covered is about 4 kilometers.
Third Cave -Kibo Hut
Geographical Details: As you approach Kibo Hut at an elevation of 4,700 meters, the terrain changes to an alpine desert. Temperatures drop significantly, averaging around -5°C to 5°C (23°F - 41°F). The trek spans approximately 9 kilometers, with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Kibo Hut Uhuru Peak - Back to Horombo Hut
Geographical Details: Summit day! Trek to Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro at 5,895 meters. Experience extreme temperatures averaging between -10°C to -20°C (14°F - -4°F). Descend to Horombo Hut (3,720 meters) covering around 20 kilometers, passing through varying vegetation zones.
Horombo Hut - Mandara Hut - Marangu Gate - Back to Moshi/Arusha
Geographical Details: Descend through lush rainforest trails back to Marangu Gate. The distance is around 27 kilometers. Enjoy temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C (68°F - 77°F) as you conclude this remarkable journey.
