Itinerary
Moshi – Londorossi gate – Big Tree Camp
Embark on the journey with a scenic drive to Londorossi gate. The trek begins through lush rainforests, witnessing a variety of flora and fauna. The Big Tree Camp welcomes you at an altitude of approximately 2,780 meters.
Mti Mkubwa – Shira 1 Camp
Ascend through the heather and moorland to Shira 1 Camp, situated at around 3,610 meters. Enjoy panoramic views of Shira Plateau, a mesmerizing landscape shaped by ancient volcanic activity.
Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Continue the ascent through the Shira Plateau, reaching Shira 2 Camp at approximately 3,850 meters. Experience the transition from moorland to the alpine desert, offering a surreal environment.
Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Moir Hut
Hike towards the Lava Tower, standing at 4,630 meters, for acclimatization. Descend to Moir Hut, surrounded by unique volcanic formations and diverse vegetation at 4,200 meters.
Moir Hut – Buffalo Camp
Venture into the high-alpine desert, reaching Buffalo Camp at approximately 4,020 meters. Marvel at the expansive views of the surrounding landscape, characterized by rugged terrain and unique rock formations.
Buffalo Camp – Third Cave
Descend through the scenic landscape to Third Cave, situated at around 3,870 meters. Traverse through a diverse range of ecosystems, from alpine deserts to moorland.
Third Cave – School Hut
Ascend to School Hut at an elevation of 4,715 meters, a crucial point before the final push to Uhuru Peak. Experience the raw beauty of high-altitude landscapes and prepare for the summit bid.
School Hut – Uhuru Peak (Summit Point) – Mweka Camp
Embark on the summit attempt, conquering Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters. Descend to Mweka Camp, situated at around 3,100 meters, and relish the accomplishment surrounded by stunning glacial landscapes.
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Back to Moshi/Arusha
Descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, marking the end of the trek. Celebrate the successful journey before returning to Moshi/Arusha.
