Itinerary
Moshi/Arusha – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree)
Travel to the Londorossi Gate, the starting point of your journey. As you traverse this day, experience the changing landscape, with an elevation gain of approximately 600 meters, covering a distance of about 7 kilometers. The trail unfolds, leading to Mti Mkubwa, a serene location surrounded by lush vegetation.
Mti Mkubwa – Shira 2 Camp
Today's trek takes you to Shira 2 Camp. Traverse through the high moorland, gaining insights into the local flora and fauna. Witness the changing ecosystems and enjoy panoramic views as you reach an elevation of around 1,200 meters over a 10-kilometer stretch.
Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Navigate through diverse landscapes, passing the iconic Lava Tower. Descend to Barranco Camp, surrounded by the stunning Barranco Wall. Experience the challenging terrain, covering a distance of approximately 8 kilometers at an elevation of 4,000 meters.
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Embark on a scenic journey to Karanga Camp, with the Barranco Wall behind you. Feel the altitude as you ascend to 4,200 meters, covering 5 kilometers. Take in the panoramic views of the rugged landscapes, preparing for the days ahead.
Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp
As you ascend to Barafu Camp, the landscape transforms into an otherworldly terrain. Covering 3 kilometers and reaching an elevation of 4,600 meters, you will acclimatize for the final push to the summit, surrounded by glacial landscapes.
Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (Summit Point) – Back to Barafu Camp then to Mweka Camp
The day begins with the ultimate ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Revel in the triumph and capture the sunrise over the vast expanse. Descend to Barafu Camp and continue to Mweka Camp, covering 12 kilometers and descending to 3,100 meters.
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi
Complete the journey by descending through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Celebrate your accomplishment before returning to Moshi, marking the end of an extraordinary adventure.
