Itinerary
Moshi/Arusha - Machame gate - Machame camp
Temperature: Ranges from 25°C to 30°C Height: Machame gate is at 1,490 meters above sea level. Distance: Trek approximately 11 kilometers. Introduction: Start your trek at the Machame gate, where lush rainforest surroundings greet you. Hike to Machame camp, surrounded by the beauty of the foothills.
Machame camp - Shira 2 camp
Temperature: Around 15°C to 20°C Height: Shira 2 camp is located at 3,850 meters. Distance: Trek approximately 5 kilometers. Introduction: Ascend through moorland, gaining elevation and witnessing the transition from lush greenery to more open landscapes.
Shira 2 camp - Lava tower - Barranco camp
Temperature: Varies from 10°C to 20°C Height: Lava tower is at 4,600 meters, while Barranco camp is at 3,960 meters. Distance: Hike about 10 kilometers. Introduction: Challenge yourself with the ascent to Lava tower and descend to Barranco camp, enjoying panoramic views and unique geological formations.
Barranco camp - Karanga
Temperature: Ranges from 5°C to 15°C Height: Karanga camp is situated at 4,035 meters. Distance: Trek approximately 5 kilometers. Introduction: Navigate the Barranco Wall and traverse the stunning Karanga Valley, acclimatizing to the increasing altitude.
Karanga - Barafu camp
Temperature: Around 0°C to 10°C Height: Barafu camp is at 4,640 meters. Distance: Trek about 4 kilometers. Introduction: Reach the alpine desert of Barafu camp, your last stop before the summit push, and prepare for the challenging final ascent.
Barafu camp - Uhuru Peak - (summit point) Mweka camp
Temperature: Varies from -10°C to -5°C (summit) Height: Uhuru Peak, the highest point, is at 5,895 meters, while Mweka camp is at 3,100 meters. Distance: Summit ascent (about 5 kilometers) and descent to Mweka camp (about 12 kilometers). Introduction: Conquer the Uhuru Peak in the early hours, witnessing a sunrise like no other. Descend to Mweka camp, reflecting on your remarkable achievement.
Mweka camp - Mweka gate - Back to Moshi
Temperature: Ranges from 10°C to 20°C Height: Mweka gate is at 1,640 meters. Distance: Descend approximately 10 kilometers. Introduction: Descend through the enchanting rainforest, reaching Mweka gate and concluding your Kilimanjaro adventure. Transfer back to Moshi for a well-deserved celebration.
