Itinerary
Moshi/ Arusha – Londorossi gate – Mti mkubwa (big tree)
The trek kicks off as we depart from Moshi/Arusha to Londorossi gate, the starting point of the Lemosho Route. Hiking through lush rainforests, you will encounter the majestic Mti Mkubwa, a colossal tree that marks your first campsite.
Mti Mkubwa – Shira 1 camp
Venturing into the Shira plateau, the landscape transforms into an expansive moorland. Reach Shira 1 camp, surrounded by panoramic views of the Shira Ridge and neighboring peaks.
Shira 1 camp – Moir Hut
Ascending through the alpine desert, the trail leads to Moir Hut. This day offers glimpses of the captivating Barranco Wall and the vastness of the Shira Plateau.
Moir Hut – Lava tower – Barranco camp
Challenge yourself with a climb to Lava Tower, providing a stunning panorama of Kilimanjaro. Descending to Barranco camp, you will navigate the iconic Barranco Wall.
Barranco camp – Karanga Camp
Traverse the Karanga Valley, a picturesque landscape that leads to Karanga Camp. The day's trek offers breathtaking views of the Southern Icefield
Karanga camp - Barafu Camp
The trail ascends to Barafu Camp, the final base before the summit push. Surrounded by glaciers, you will acclimatize and prepare for the ultimate ascent.
Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – back to Barafu camp Mweka camp
Embark on the summit attempt to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Kilimanjaro. Descend to Barafu Camp, then continue to Mweka Camp, relishing in the accomplishment of reaching the summit.
Mweka camp – Mweka gate Moshi Descend
Descend through lush rainforests, reaching Mweka Gate. Celebrate the completion of your Kilimanjaro adventure as you transfer back to Moshi.
