Itinerary
: Moshi – Londorossi gate – Big Tree Camp
Embarking on the trek, you will drive to the Londorossi gate, the entry to Kilimanjaro's Northern Circuit. The day's journey introduces lush rainforests, teeming with vibrant vegetation. Expect temperatures around 20°C.
: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 camp
Ascending through the rainforest, you will reach Mti Mkubwa, revealing a transition to moorland. Shira 1 camp sits at an altitude of approximately 3,500 meters, offering breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau. Temperatures drop, averaging 10-15°C.
: Shira 1 camp – Lava Tower – Moir Hut
Traversing the Shira Plateau, you will climb to the striking Lava Tower, standing at 4,630 meters. As you approach Moir Hut, the landscape shifts to alpine desert, characterized by sparse vegetation. Temperatures may vary between 5-10°C.
Moir Hut – Buffalo Camp
Entering the Northern Circuit's remote realms, you will reach Buffalo Camp, surrounded by unique flora adapted to high altitudes. The day's trek encompasses an elevation gain, with temperatures ranging from 0 to 5°C.
: Buffalo Camp – Third Cave

: Third Cave – School Hut
Ascending to School Hut at 4,600 meters, the landscape becomes more lunar-like. The air thins, and temperatures drop significantly, averaging between -5 to 0°C. This challenging day prepares you for the final ascent.
School Hut – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
The summit day! As you ascend to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters, witness the breathtaking sunrise over the glaciers. Descend to Mweka Camp through the moorland, with temperatures varying from -10 to -5°C.
: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Back to Moshi/Arusha
The final descent through the rainforest brings you to Mweka Gate. Reflect on your achievement as you return to Moshi or Arusha. Temperatures rise as you descend, reaching approximately 15-20°C.
