Itinerary
Moshi – Londorossi gate – Big Tree Camp
The trek commences at Londorossi gate, your entry point to the enchanting rainforests of Kilimanjaro. The vegetation is dense, and the temperature is moderate, creating a comfortable environment for your initial ascent. Big Tree Camp offers the first taste of the scenic wonders that lie ahead.
Mti Mkubwa – Shira 1 camp
Venturing further into the Northern Circuit, the landscape transforms into heath and moorland. Mti Mkubwa, or "Big Tree," is a landmark, and Shira 1 camp offers a high-altitude experience with panoramic views of the Shira Plateau.
Shira 1 camp – Shira 2 camp
Ascending through the alpine desert, Shira 2 camp sits amidst otherworldly landscapes. The terrain becomes more rugged, and the air thinner, heightening the sense of adventure.
Shira 2 camp – Lava Tower – Moir Hut
The trail takes you to Lava Tower, a dramatic rock formation standing tall at high altitude. Climbing higher, Moir Hut provides a unique perspective, surrounded by a lunar-like landscape
Moir Hut – Buffalo camp
Navigating through the alpine desert, you reach Buffalo camp, surrounded by the unique flora adapted to the higher elevations. The temperature drops, and the air becomes crisper as you ascend.
Buffalo camp – Third Cave
Trekking through the high-altitude desert, you approach Third Cave, a remote location offering tranquility amidst the challenging yet awe-inspiring surroundings.
Third Cave – School Hut
The landscape transitions to glacial valleys as you approach School Hut. The air becomes thinner, and the temperature colder, preparing you for the final push to the summit.
School Hut – Uhuru Peak (summit point) – Mweka camp
The summit day arrives as you make your way to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Kilimanjaro. Witness the sunrise from the roof of Africa before descending to Mweka camp, surrounded by the changing vegetation.
Mweka camp – Mweka gate – Back to Moshi/Arusha
